In this brief procedure, the nose is initially numbed. An endoscope, a thin lighted camera, is placed through the nostril. With this view, the Clarifix cryo-ablation device is used to freeze the overactive nerve, which causes congestion and runny nose.
With Clarifix recovery is almost immediate. A few patients may experience a mild brain freeze headache for a short time. Post procedural care includes a short course of nasal saline sprays. Patients can return to work the same day.
