In this brief procedure the nose is initially numbed. An endoscope, a thin lighted camera, is placed through the nostril. With this view, the RhinAer radiofrequency device is used to disrupt the overactive nerve which causes congestion and runny nose.
With RhinAer recovery is almost immediate. A few patients may experience a mild brain freeze headache for a short time. Post-procedural care includes a short course of nasal saline sprays. Patients can return to work the same day.
Multiple clinical studies and patient experience have shown significant reduction in nasal congestion and runny nose. One multi-center prospective study showed 96 percent of patients treated with RhinAer reported an improvement in their rhinitis symptoms at 6 months. On average their symptoms improved by 61% with the most significant improvements being in runny nose and post-nasal drip.
